I’ve had a few dads saying that they have a hard time getting up early to get their workout in.
They want to get up early because they know that it’s the only time they have to get it in.
“Morning people aren’t born – they’re self made.”
It’s not easy to get up early every day but it does get easier.
Here are a few strategies you can put into place to help you get up early to get your workout done.
5 Tips for Waking Up Early to get your Workout In!
Nighttime Intentions
Go to bed intending to get up early. Tell yourself you are going to wake up on time, get a great workout in and be productive all day long.
NOT: being Mr. Doom and Gloom telling yourself you’ll sleep in again and miss your workout.
Alarm Tricks for waking up
Place your phone/alarm across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. This will not give you the chance to hit the snooze button.
If you still find yourself going back to bed, set another alarm downstairs in the kitchen that will go off 3 minutes later. This way you have to go all the way downstairs or to the kitchen to turn it off.
Clean up!
Wash your face and brush your teeth. These activities will help you get awake so you are ready to go.
Get Dressed
Have your workout clothes ready to go before bed so you can just slip them on and get to it. You may even decide to just wear your workout clothes to bed.. providing you aren’t using the same sweaty clothes from the day before 😉
Hydrate
Drink a full glass of water when you wake up. You are dehydrated from not having any water to drink for the past 7-8 hrs. I usually take a bottle of water to bed with me so if i’m thirsty at night I have it. In the morning I drink whatever is left of it… It is usually full ad at room temperature.
